Mary Elizabeth Rollins Lightner

[At age 12 in 1831], [Smith] told me about his great vision concerning me. He said I was the first woman God commanded him to take as a plural wife. … In 1834 he was commanded to take me for a Wife… [In 1842 I] went forward and was sealed to him. Brigham Young performed the sealing … for time, and all Eternity. I did just as Joseph told me to do[.]

Marinda Nancy Johnson (Hyde)

"In the summer of 1831 the Johnson family took Joseph and Emma Smith into their home as boarders, and soon thereafter the prophet purportedly bedded young Marinda. Unfortunately, the liaison did not go unnoticed, and a gang of indignant Ohioans—including a number of Mormonsresolved to castrate Joseph so that he would be disinclined to commit such acts of depravity in the future."

---------------------------------------------

Lucy Walker [married at age 17]

"In the year 1842 President Joseph Smith sought an interview with me, and said, ‘I have a message for you, I have been commanded of God to take another wife, and you are the woman.' … He asked me if I believed him to be a Prophet of God. … He fully Explained to me the principle of plural or celestial marriage … that it would prove an everlasting blessing to my father's house. … [Joseph encouraged her to pray] 'that the grave would kindly receive me that I might find rest on the bosom of my dear [recently deceased] mother … Why Should I be chosen from among thy daughters, Father I am only a child in years and experience.' And thus I prayed in the agony of my soul. … [The marriage] was not a love matter—at least on my part it was not, but simply the giving up of myself as a sacrifice to establish that grand and glorious principle that God had revealed to the world."

Daughter of Heber C. Kimball. Helen Mar Kimball [married at age 14]

At age 14 wrote, "[My father] asked me if I would be sealed to Joseph … [Smith] said to me, ‘If you will take this step, it will ensure your eternal salvation & exaltation and that of your father's household & all of your kindred.[‘] This promise was so great that I willingly gave myself to purchase so glorious a reward. …

[After the marriage] I felt quite sore over it … and thought myself an abused child, and that it was pardonable if I did murmur." (Helen Mar Kimball)

Fanny Alger [married at 16?]

Historian Lawrence Foster asserts a claim that later Mormons may have falsely assumed there was a marriage where there was only a sexual relationship:

Heber C. Kimball (June 14, 1801 – June 22, 1868)

... a leader in the early Latter Day Saint movement. He served as one of the original twelve apostles in the early Latter Day Saint church, and as first counselor to Brigham Young in the First Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from 1847 until his death.

His first wife, Vilate Murray Kimball, accepted plural marriage and welcomed the additional wives as sisters. Heber and Vilate agreed and gave their 14-year-old daughter Helen Marr as a plural wife of Joseph Smith.

Wives and children

Kimball eventually married a total of forty-three women, although it is claimed by some that not all of these marriages resulted in sexual relations. Kimball had sixty-five children by seventeen of his wives.

What Is Mormonism?

Origin of The Book of Abraham:

[...] Joseph Smith’s translation of the papyri in 1835 had to be false because no one at the time of Joseph Smith could translate Egyptian. The Rosetta Stone, which gave the world the knowledge to translate Egyptian was not translated itself until 1858, 23 years later.

Joseph Smith Becomes a Mason

http://utlm.org/onlinebooks/changech22b.htm#Joseph%20Smith%20Become...

The Temple Ceremony and Masonry

It seems clear that at least part of the temple ritual came from Freemasonry. In fact, the similarities between the temple ceremony and the ritual of the Masons are very striking.

p.534

Joseph Smith borrowed from the Masons. The reader should remember that it was on March 16, 1842, that Joseph Smith "was with the Masonic Lodge and rose to the sublime degree" (History of the Church, vol. 4, p. 552). Less than two months later (May 4, 1842), Joseph Smith introduced the temple endowment ceremony. According to Joseph Smith's History of the Church, vol. 5, pp. 1-2), it was in the same room "where the Masonic fraternity meet occasionally:"

p.543

the Book of Mormon condemns all secret societies, bands and oaths. In fact, it plainly states that "the Lord worketh not in secret combinations" (Ether 8:19).

p.544

the connection between Mormonism and Masonry can be briefly summarized as follows:

1. Both Mormonism and Masonry have secret ceremonies that are performed in secret temples.

2. The "Masonic emblems" are displayed on the walls of the Mormon temple.

3. The Mormon temple ritual is similar in many respects to that used by the Masons.

4. Joseph Smith and many of the most prominent members of the Mormon church were also members of the Masonic lodge.

5. Temple ceremonies were actually performed in the Masonic hall.

p.545

Conclusion

Although Mormon apologists would have us believe that Joseph Smith received the temple ceremony by revelation from God, the evidence is against it and clearly shows that he borrowed heavily from Masonry.

After careful examination of the temple ceremony, we have come to the conclusion that it bears unmistakable evidence of being a man-made ritual. The fact that so many changes had to be made in it to try to make it acceptable shows plainly that it is not from God.
